When riders get to an independent level of riding outside the ring, they may join Mrs. Cline in fox hunting.  We fox hunt with Lewisville Hunt in Lewisville, PA.  Hunting is from  October through March, weather permitting.  This is the time when crops are off the land and foxes are not raising young.  The country side is hilly and the views are breathtaking, crossing bridges and rivers, riding through woods and in open fields and  listening to the hounds and the horn.   Most of the hunt is at a walk or trot, with cantering and galloping when needed to stay with the hounds.  When we take riders, we always ride to the level of the least able rider.

There are customs and rules that are followed.   Etiquette in the hunt field is important that that is covered before hunting. Appropriate attire is needed and a compliant horse/pony is a must.

Leasing a C-Line horse or pony is available.  Other fees include trailering and capping fees. A “Capping Fee” is a fee for fox hunting  i.e. riding with the hounds.  The “capping fee” term originated with early hunts passing a hunt camp for riders to put their money in to pay for the privilege of hunting.
