HORSE SHOWING AND YOUR CHILD

Participating in a horse show is  fun, exciting, scary and rewarding, and it’s a lesson in life.

At C-Line Stables we view our role as one of aiding and encouraging  those riders who want to participate in shows.  We believe that showing helps riders set and reach goals, build confidence, learn to accept the judge’s opinion with grace and form bonds of friendship and support with other riders.

Preparation for  show day starts years before.  Following instruction and paying attention to detail are the foundations of success.      We like riders to experience showing by first helping another rider prepare and show.  Often extra lessons prior to a show are helpful.  All of this gives a background of knowledge to help ease the rider into the “BIG DAY”.

When riders get to an independent level of riding outside the ring, they may join Mrs. Cline in fox hunting.  We fox hunt with Lewisville Hunt in Lewisville, PA.  Hunting is from  October through March, weather permitting.  This is the time when crops are off the land and foxes are not raising young.  The country side is hilly and the views are breathtaking, crossing bridges and rivers, riding through woods and in open fields and  listening to the hounds and the horn.   Most of the hunt is at a walk or trot, with cantering and galloping when needed to stay with the hounds.  When we take riders, we always ride to the level of the least able rider.

Therapeutic Horseback Riding is for individuals with physical, cognitive or psychological challenges that limit their ability to participate in a more typical riding program. The purpose of this activity is to provide a safe, structured environment for individuals with challenges. This activity allows them to engage in meaningful, age appropriate activities and/or as a viable compliment to physical, occupational or speech therapies, depending on the specific needs of the specific individual. The multi-dimensional movement of the horse has been shown to positively affect physical, psychological and behavioral functioning in individuals with barriers such as Spina Bifida, Muscular Dystrophy, Cerebral Palsy, Multiple Sclerosis, Down Syndrome, Autism, visually and hearing impaired, emotional development and learning challenges. It has also been shown very effective in seniors as a viable recreational activity with aerobic advantages.
